Tasted ex-chateau and single blind in Southwold. Whilst I have a lot of time for this under-rated Saint Emilion, the 2008 could have offered more. It has a simple, slightly leafy on the nose with moderate definition and intensity, rather conservative with touches of cedar developing. The palate has a plumy entry with blackberry and a touch of game, though the finish lacks a little spark. Not a bad wine, but not particularly exciting. Tasted January 2012.
Vinous 91
Bright medium ruby. Perfumed aromas of pomegranate, blackcurrant, aromatic herbs and violet. Sweet and lively on the palate, with vibrant acidity lifting the red fruit and mineral flavors. Finishes smooth and long, with very polished tannins. Medium-boded and surprisingly easy to drink already, but has the stuffing to age well for another 15 years.
